Creating an ID.me Account​​

Step 1: Access the ID.me Website​

  • Go to the ID.me website.​

Step 2: Select “Create an Account”​

  • Click on the “Create an Account” button on the homepage.​

​

Step 3: Enter Your Email and Create a Password​

  • Provide your email address and create a strong password.​

  • Click “Sign Up.”​

​

Step 4: Confirm Your Email Address​

  • Check your email for a confirmation message from ID.me.​

  • Click on the confirmation link to verify your email address.​

​

Step 5: Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)​

  • Choose a method for MFA, such as a one-time password sent to your phone, a backup recovery code, or a code generator app.​

  • Follow the instructions to complete the MFA setup.​

Step 6: Verify Your Identity​

  • You will need to upload photos of a government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s license, state ID, passport).​

  • Take a video selfie using your phone or computer to match your ID photo.​

  • Enter your Social Security number.​

Step 7: Complete the Verification​

  • Follow any additional instructions to complete the identity verification process.​

  • Once verified, you will receive a confirmation email.​

 

Verifying an Existing ID.me Account​

Step 1: Access the ID.me Website​

  • Go to the ID.me website.​

​

Step 2: Log In to Your Account​

  • Enter your email and password to log in.​

​

Step 3: Complete Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)​

  • Follow the MFA process you set up during account creation.​

​

Step 4: Verify Your Identity​

  • If prompted, upload photos of your government-issued ID and take a video selfie.​

  • Enter your Social Security number if required.​

​

Step 5: Confirm Your Information​

  • Review and confirm your personal information to complete the verification process.​
