Creating a Login.gov Account
Step 1: Access the Login.gov Website
Step 2: Select “Create an Account”
•Click on the “Create an Account” button on the homepage.
Step 3: Enter Your Email and Create a Password
•Provide your email address and create a strong password (at least 12 characters).
•Click “Submit.”
Step 4: Confirm Your Email Address
•Check your email for a confirmation message from Login.gov.
•Click on the confirmation link to verify your email address.
Step 5: Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
•Choose a method for MFA, such as a one-time password sent to your phone, a backup recovery code, or a code generator app.
•Follow the instructions to complete the MFA setup.
Step 6: Verify Your Identity
•You will need to upload photos of a government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s license, state ID, passport).
•Take a video selfie using your phone or computer to match your ID photo.
•Enter your Social Security number if required.
Step 7: Complete the Verification
•Follow any additional instructions to complete the identity verification process.
•Once verified, you will receive a confirmation email.
