The duties and obligations placed on DoW intelligence organizations to protect the rights of individuals arise from the 
  U.S. Constitution and Executive Order 12333 as implemented by DoD Manual 5240.01.

  DoD Directive 5148.13 outlines the DoW Intelligence Oversight program and serves as the basis for the DoW regulations
  and instructions that implement Intelligence Oversight (IO) within the Defense Intelligence Enterprise.      

  Intelligence Oversight employs a variety of tools, such as inspections, assessments, staff assistance visits, investigations,
  and training to support its mission requirements.
